Physical education teaching philosophy paper

Philosophy paper | Philosophy Of Education | Teachers

assignments essays The assignment is to write an essay in two parts. The topic should be a question, not just a concept or theme. In Part 1 you show how one of our authors would have answered your question. Physical Philosophy Paper? In Part 2 you comment on the adequacy of that answer. Ask a good question. (Tips and details.) In Part 1, interpret or reconstruct how one of our authors would have answered your question. The author's answer includes the thesis on science fiction conclusion and the arguments in education support of that conclusion. Present your reconstruction of the author's answer as a direct response to your main question. (Interpret the example written 5 paragraph essay author's answer to this question and only the author's answer to this question.) Support your interpretation with textual evidence. Using textual evidence means, among other things, to cite the text by page number for every significant claim you attribute to physical, the author, whether you are quoting or merely paraphrasing. (Tips and details.) In Part 2, start to assess the how to write letter adequacy of the physical education teaching paper author's answer and supporting arguments. Comment on their strengths and weaknesses as you see them, and present your evaluation as a direct response to the author's position in Part 1. (Evaluate the position you interpreted in Part 1 and only the position you interpreted in Part 1.) Assess the author's arguments, not just the well written essay author's conclusions.

If you had to choose, assessing the author's arguments is physical education more important than assessing the class 5 author's conclusions. Support your evaluative comments with explicit arguments of your own. Address your arguments to the open-minded, educated public. (Tips and details.) Be fascinating and profound. (Tips and details.) Think of this paper as the physical education philosophy paper beginning of a dialogue between two thoughtful people on some important question. The two thoughtful people are you and the author. The important question is yours. In Part 1 you are listening to the author; in essay Part 2 you are speaking. In Part 1 you are interpreting the physical teaching philosophy author's answer to the question; in Part 2 you are evaluating it. The purpose of the paper is to help you and your readers make some progress toward answering this important question.

That's the simple, grand idea. Make your main question explicit early in the paper, preferably in the title. Label Parts 1 and 2 explicitly so that you and I both know where to how to write reference letter, find them. The two parts are equal in weight in physical education philosophy paper the final grade and should get roughly equal space. To get started you need a question and an author. I usually ask for these two decisions in writing one week before the paper is due. Look to the syllabus for the page range and the due date. I don't expect you to absorb this long description of the assignment at one sitting. I include it here as a reference and study aid. If you wonder what a certain part of the assignment really requires, or if you are having trouble with a certain part, read my elaboration on that part here.

Then let's talk. Thesis Fiction? Ask a Good Question Reading the author's text and discussing it class undoubtedly made you think. What questions were you moved to think about? Pick one for the paper. Philosophy Paper? Make the question explicit very early in the paper, for example in the title or first paragraph. Don't make us wonder what your question is or infer it from statements about issues and problems. I will grade you, in part, on how directly and adequately you address your own question. Essay 5? So pick your words with care when stating the question, and physical teaching philosophy paper monitor how closely you stick to your question throughout the paper. From all the questions that arise from the essay author's text, pick a question that is important to education paper, you. You'll write a much better paper this way and essay my teacher class 5 the labor will be in education teaching philosophy paper a good cause.

Philosophy papers should not be merely academic. Your question should also be important to the author. If it isn't, it may be a very good philosophical question to raise and pursue, but not a good paper topic for this author. Not all good philosophical questions make good paper topics for this assignment. Some are too big. Resume? Some are too small. Education Teaching? Some are best addressed to authors we're not reading. By all means pose and investigate these questions; this will deepen your inquiry and help you grow as a philosopher. But for my teacher class, the paper, look for a question that fits both the page range and the authors in our syllabus.

One reason I often ask you for physical teaching philosophy, your topic question a week before the paper is how to write a customer service reference letter due is to give you feedback on whether the question is too large or too small. Physical Philosophy Paper? If you want this kind of feedback even earlier, I'd be happy to talk (in my office or by email) about the questions you are considering or to mediation, help you frame your emerging topic as a question. You may have trouble picking a topic question with relatively clear boundary lines. You may like question A, but see that it commits you to write about B, C, and philosophy paper D, when each of those commits you to write about further topics. This is a genuine problem.

You've noticed that in philosophy all issues are connected. Essay Class 5? Don't blame yourself or the author. The solution is to physical philosophy, use your best judgment to thesis on science fiction, give your primary topic primary attention in the paper, and to give secondary topics merely secondary attention. Don't hesitate to physical philosophy paper, mention related topics, especially when doing so will illuminate your primary topic. But don't digress deeply into secondary topics and, above all, don't let them take over the paper. If your digressions go more deeply than your analysis of the primary topic, then change your topic to the subject of your deepest digression. Ask a question about real issues, not merely about what an essay my teacher, author believed about real issues. For example, ask, Can free will and causal determinism be reconciled? not, Does Leibniz think free will and physical philosophy determinism can be reconciled? You can still write Part 1 of example of a written essay your paper on Leibniz, if you like. But you'll also write a Part 2, which assumes that the question is teaching philosophy paper interesting and important in its own right.

The question need not be one that the author directly addressed. My Teacher 5? When it isn't, you won't find the author's answer already laid out in black and white in the text, but you can often find plenty of textual clues to what the author would have said. In Part 1, limit yourself to those parts of the author's position that answer the main question. In Part 2, limit yourself to those evaluative comments that bear on the author's answer to the main question. In this sense, the physical education teaching philosophy question is the organizing key to the paper. The question should tell you what to include in the paper, what to thesis fiction, omit, and when to stop. But the physical education teaching paper in turn may suggest revisions to make in the question. Let the question and the paper addressing it influence each other reciprocally. Essay Organizer? When you are finished, the two ought to be in perfect alignment. Organizing the paper around a single question lets you focus, and physical education therefore helps you achieve depth rather than breadth.

To reach depth in this sense is at least (1) to my teacher class 5, attain a fine level of detail, (2) to physical philosophy paper, respect the complexity of the position and essay class argument you are discussing, and paper (3) to qualify otherwise oversimple interpretations, explanations, and arguments. It might also include (4) identifying and 3 part addressing deeper assumptions or presuppositions and (5) asking questions that take us to paper, even more basic issues. Breadth is only objectionable in essay a short paper and only because it prevents depth in this sense. Education Teaching Paper? Don't spread yourself thin, saying something superficial about many sub-topics, when by concentrating you could reach significant insights about one. There is no shortcut to depth, but you can help yourself by picking one question and sticking to it mercilessly.

Part 1. Interpret the thesis fiction Author's Answer You've asked a good question. What's the author's answer? Interpretation is an attempt to understand the author, not just to physical teaching philosophy paper, excavate your impressions or reactions. You may have to use your imagination to 3 part, reconstruct the education teaching philosophy author's answer and argument from subtle clues in the text. The author's supporting argument is part of the mediation position and must be included. Expound the physical philosophy paper author's position and argument as a direct response to the main question. Don't make us wonder about the dissertations connection between the position you are expounding and physical philosophy the main question. Interpret all those parts of the author's general position that are necessary to answer your main question. Ethnomusicology Dissertations? To leave some out physical education teaching philosophy, will oversimplify the author's answer.

Only interpret those parts of the author's general position that are necessary to 3 part essay organizer, answer your main question. In a short paper you don't have space to waste on inessentials. You may assume that your readers have already read the author's book. They may not agree with you on how to interpret or evaluate it, but at education teaching philosophy paper least you needn't summarize it for them in order the set the stage for your narrower inquiry. Cite the text by page number for ethnomusicology, every significant claim you attribute to the author, whether you are quoting or merely paraphrasing. Physical Education Teaching? This is necessary even if you are adopting a reading that I presented in class.

The rationale is the same here as it is for published scholarship. Your readers may disagree with your reading and want to verify your claims. Or your readers may be inspired by your reading and want to follow-up and how to write service reference letter deepen the inquiry. Two of the chief weaknesses I see in interpretations are lack of textual evidence and oversimplification. These go together. If you force yourself to back up your interpretive claims with textual evidence and page numbers, then you'll be in a much better position to notice subtleties or complexities that you might have been overlooking. Physical Education Philosophy Paper? Oversimplified positions are almost always weaker than properly qualified or nuanced positions. Hence, oversimplification is a double fault. First, it weakens the mediation interpretation by replacing the author's rich and complex position with a caricature. Second, it invites unfair or misguided evaluation in Part 2. Unless the author's meaning in a quotation is education paper obvious, interpret it for us.

Explain what the author meant and show us how that meaning supports the point you are making. Quotation proves that the author said the how to a customer reference letter words, but it doesn't tell us how you interpret the physical education words and it doesn't prove that the ethnomusicology words support your interpretation. If your reader didn't understand the author the first time, then she won't understand your quotation until you offer your help. Demurrer . Although I judge interpretations by the standard of accuracy, rather than originality and cleverness, I do not assume that there is such a thing as the author's intended meaning which exists independently of our collective interpretive efforts. But neither do I assume that there is not such a thing. This is physical education teaching philosophy paper a good philosophical question on class 5 which it would be prejudicial for me to make an assumption one way or another. I assume only that to interpret a text as if the author intended a discoverable meaning will take you several steps beyond narcissism and toward productive listening, and that this is good education. So how can I grade you by the standard of accuracy? First, I look for those signs of listening that take one beyond narcissism. Second, while I may not know the author's intended meaning on your topic, I do know passages in the text on your topic. If your interpretation does not take them into account, then it oversimplifies or fails to respect the complexity of the text, an important kind of inaccuracy.

Here's a rough and ready way to education teaching paper, tell whether you have written a good interpretation. If a peer from class read the book but was particularly baffled by the author's position on the question you've picked as your topic, would she receive concrete help from reading your interpretation? The most common problems I see in interpretations are the following. Missing the target. Focusing on some aspect of the author's position other than his or her answer to your topic question. Weakening the author. Presenting the ethnomusicology dissertations author's conclusions without their supporting arguments.

Oversimplifying the author. Physical Education Paper? Failing to respect the complexity or nuance of the text. Omitting your evidence. Example Well 5 Paragraph? Not citing the text by page number for every significant claim you attribute to the author. Tying your own hands. Failing to interpret the parts of the author's position and argument on which you want to make evaluative comments in Part 2. Part 2. Evaluate the Author's Answer You've asked a good question and reconstructed the author's answer. Now, what do you think of that answer? I say evaluate the education author's position only as shorthand.

This brief formulation hides four aspects of an essay my teacher, evaluation that are hard to squeeze into a headline. Education Teaching Paper? To evaluate a position is to evaluate its adequacy as an thesis on science, answer to the main question . Its adequacy for other purposes is secondary here. To evaluate the adequacy of physical education paper a position requires us to evaluate the adequacy of both the conclusion and its supporting argument . To evaluate the adequacy of a position and argument is to judge them from your own standpoint . Your evaluative judgments must be supported by explicit arguments of your own. The assignment is not merely to reveal and articulate your standpoint in judging the author; that would be mere confession, not philosophy. The assignment is to defend or justify your standpoint. We are all stymied or intimidated by the bottom-line question whether the author was right or wrong on the topic question. But this is not the only question to address in Part 2, and on science not even the preferred question. Education Teaching Paper? If so, then what's left, exactly? Consider some of these possibilities. Look closely at the author's arguments for the answer to ethnomusicology dissertations, the main question, as you have interpreted them in Part 1. Are you persuaded? What in physical education teaching philosophy paper them is strong?

What in them is weak? Is the author's position on this question consistent with what he or she said elsewhere on another question? (To pursue a line like this, make sure that both parts of the author's text were interpreted in of a well Part 1.) Is the author's position one-sided? Does it fail to take into education teaching, account some kind of evidence, or some line of reasoning, or some relevant phenomenon, that you can argue should have been taken into account? Take an objection to the author's position. Thesis On Science Fiction? It might be your own or a classical objection from the history of philosophy. Interpret the author's likely reply to the objection in Part 1. Here in teaching philosophy paper Part 2 ask whether the author's response is adequate and how to write a customer reference persuasive, strong or weak. Explore what you find persuasive and unpersuasive, attractive and unattractive in education teaching philosophy the author's position and argument. Explore what's attractive by seeing how it might apply in contexts the author didn't consider. Explore what's unattractive by of a well written trying to put your finger on physical education teaching an error or weakness.

Explore the position by following out lines of thought to well 5 paragraph essay, see whether their consequences make the position, all in all, more attractive or less. Physical Education Philosophy? Test its truth by fiction seeing how well it can answer certain objections or explain certain phenomena. Perform these explorations in front of our eyes. Don't do them in your head or on scratch paper and show us only the conclusions. In a philosophy paper, the education teaching reasons are at least as important as the resume conclusions. In short, there are many less intimidating ways to evaluate a position and argument than to come to a judgment on whether the author's answer to the main question was right or wrong. To make this clear I often prefer to say that the assignment in Part 2 is to write evaluative comments rather than an evaluation as such. This is not just semantics. I really have the friendlier and less intimidating assignment in mind. I still want you to evaluate the author's position, and the adequacy of that position as you see it is physical education teaching philosophy paper still the only issue in Part 2 of the paper.

But your comments need not be final, definitive, or certain; they may be exploratory and tentative. If you see some strengths and some weaknesses, tell us about them and thesis offer your arguments. Tell us why the aspects you consider strengths are strong and education paper why the example 5 paragraph essay aspects you conaider weaknesses are weak. But don't worry if they don't add up to a definitive judgment. I want you to make progress toward answering the physical main question; it would be unfair for me to expect you to finish the job #151;when philosophers themselves are still at essay class 5 work on it. Don't change the subject in Part 2. Limit your comments to the author's answer to the main question, as you interpreted that answer in Part 1. There are two reasons for this. You cannot comment responsibly on the adequacy of any position that you have not previously interpreted.

The author might not deserve the judgment you have rendered. Education Philosophy? We won't know and you won't know until you show exactly what the author said on that subject, an interpretive job that belongs in on science Part 1. If you interpret the author on one question, and then evaluate the author on philosophy different questions, then you waste the labor of your interpretation. You waste your limited space for evaluation on issues irrelevant to your chosen question. You miss an opportunity to ethnomusicology dissertations, deepen the inquiry by teaching responding to what the author really did say on the question. 3 Part? The dialogue between two thoughtful people on an important question fizzles into two monologues. If you find yourself making evaluative comments on parts of the author's position that you have not previously interpreted in Part 1, then you face a choice. Either delete your off-topic evaluative comments or change your question (and rewrite Part 1) in order to set up the topic of your evaluative comments. Physical Education? Your topic in Part 2 is the adequacy of the author's position, not whether you agree or disagree.

If you think the author's position was strong on some point, don't tell us that you agree with it; tell us where it was strong and reference why. If you think it was weak on some point, don't tell us that you disagree; tell us where it was weak and why. Indicating your agreement or disagreement is neither relevant nor sufficient. The question in Part 2 is paper not whether you agree or disagree, but whether you ought to agree or disagree. If you agree with the author, you and essay 5 the author might both be wrong. If you disagree with the author, then you think you are right and teaching paper the author wrong, but of course the author would think it's the other way around. You won't help settle the question by telling us what you accept and what you reject. Resume? Other inquirers can't build on that, unless they are simply counting votes. But you will help settle the question by showing exactly where and how the author's arguments were strong or weak. You may not even know whether you agree or disagree with the author's answer to physical teaching paper, the main question. Don't be alarmed.

Your reluctance to judge can actually help you write a good paper. (Somehow many students get the my teacher idea that philosophy is all about having opinions; it's not.) You may see pros and cons without having made up your mind about how they balance out. Fine: tell us about them. Your comments on what's strong and education paper what's weak can be illuminating even if they are inconclusive and you remain undecided. In fact, your evaluative comments are likely to be weak (one-sided and dogmatic) if you made up your mind made before undertaking the reasoned inquiry required for on science, Part 2. Physical Philosophy Paper? Making up your mind is not always important; and when it is, then it's important to on science fiction, do it right. That requires you to look closely at sophisticated answers to the question, think about their strengths and weaknesses, and frame your reasons for finding them to be strong or weak. This is just what Part 2 calls on you to do. The evaluative comments should show what you think about the physical teaching paper author's answer to the main question. What's important to me is that you think about essay, that answer.

I don't care whether you agree or disagree or can't make up your mind. I would much rather have you think without agreeing or disagreeing than to agree or disagree without thinking. Expound your evaluative comments as direct responses to the author's position and argument in Part 1. Don't make us wonder how your comments are relevant to the author's position or your evaluative judgment of it. Avoid making significant, new interpretive claims in physical Part 2. This steals space needed for evaluation, limiting the depth of your evaluative comments. Moreover, in my experience, interpretive claims in Part 2 tend to be made as asides, without adequate textual evidence.

To make them superficial is a problem; to give them adequate textual evidence in Part 2 would subtract from the space left for evaluation. Lesson: Give them adequate textual evidence, but do it in Part 1. Since you are interpreting as well as evaluating the author, make sure your readers can tell when you are speaking for the author and when you are speaking for yourself. Don't be afraid to use the word I and take responsibility for your views, regardless of what you were taught in essay High School. The evaluative comments are roughly half the philosophy paper paper in importance and organizer weight, and hence, roughly half a paper's grade. So give them roughly half the space. You may find it easier to criticize an author than to support one.

On the one hand, don't mistake the easy path for the best path; on the other, don't worry if you only have critical comments. If you worry that you have to balance all negative comments with positive comments, then stop; you don't. If you worry that you have to disagree with an author to be a good philosopher, then stop; you don't. If you worry that I will penalize criticism (on the theory that I don't assign authors when I don't agree with them), then stop; I won't. If you worry that your negative comments might be missing some of the education teaching philosophy story, then good; they might. If you worry that you can't express major agreements as easily as minor disagreements, then good; you should work on this. Because the author has already argued in favor of mediation his or her position, probably very well, it is difficult to physical education philosophy paper, find anything to say in support of the position without merely repeating what the author has said. This is a customer service letter often true, but don't be led by these pressures to criticize a position that you support. One way to support an author is to show that the author's position can satisfactorily answer objections which (for one reason or another) the author didn't explicitly address. You may well have studied some of these objections in class; certainly you can find some in physical education philosophy the library.

Another way is to show that the mediation position can satisfactorily explain phenomena or solve problems which (for one reason or another) the author never considered. Another is to show that an apparent problem is physical philosophy not a real problem, or that the solution to one problem dovetails or coheres beautifully with the class 5 solution to another problem. Another is to show that the physical teaching philosophy philosopher solves a problem left unsolved by my teacher class 5 some previous philosopher, yet without creating the new problem that prevented the previous philosopher from seeing or adopting the same solution. Use your imagination and physical education teaching paper you'll find many other ways as well. On the other hand, don't hesitate to criticize a position strongly.

You will not violate some unwritten rule or offend me. I defend our authors against misinterpretation in 3 part essay organizer order to help us interpret them accurately, and teaching paper I defend them against objections (at least while I'm teaching them) in order to show you what resources these positions have to defend themselves. And I defend my decision to ethnomusicology, include them in the syllabus, as authors worth your time and attention. But that's it. I don't defend them against a well-argued critique.

Don't distort your paper by avoiding a critique in fear of offending me or jeopardizing your grade. I'm teaching, not preaching. You can learn a lot from an author by clarifying your suspicion that something has gone wrong, putting your finger on what you believe to be a mistake, and arguing that such a step is mistaken. The justification of your critique matters to me, but its severity does not. In short, if you criticize one of the author's positions, just make sure that the author deserves it. If you need a checklist to keep you honest, then try to (1) show that the author actually asserted the claim you want to physical education, criticize, (2) show the author's reasons for asserting it, and (3) show what's wrong with those reasons.

Here's a little elaboration on these three tasks. If you criticize the author for saying x , then make sure that in Part 1 you provide textual evidence to show that the author really did say x . Don't criticize a position that the author never asserted, and don't criticize an asserted position that you haven't yet interpreted for us. Make sure that in Part 1 you reconstruct the author's arguments for example 5 paragraph, x . Education Paper? Show the case for how to service letter, x at physical teaching paper its strongest, at resume mediation least in the strongest form in physical education paper which this author gives it. If you don't, your evaluation is bound to example of a well written 5 paragraph essay, be unfair. Make sure that you directly address the author's arguments. If you have an original argument againt x , that's good; we want to hear it. But whether you have such an argument or not, you must address the author's argument for physical education paper, x and example written show us why you think it fails to establish x . The reason is simply that your arguments against x might be weaker than the author's arguments for physical philosophy paper, x . We won't know until we see you evaluate the author's arguments and identify where they go wrong. 3 Part? Try to imagine how the education author would reply to your criticism. Can you answer the author's objections?

Should you make any concessions to them and qualify your criticism? Interpreting the author's arguments in Part 1 is write a customer service part of careful reading. Physical Education Paper? Evaluating those arguments in Part 2 is part of responsible dialogue. But the task here is one of sensitive imagination. The author never heard your criticism and never responded to it. Thesis? Can you imagine how the education teaching author would reply? This task also requires you to reply to objections, even though they are imagined objections.

This requires fair-mindedness with those who disagree with you, the humility to articulate objections to your own views, the logical sense to know when you've answered an objection and when you've evaded one, the honesty to change your mind in the face of persuasive objections, and the skill with language to qualify your claims so that they capture the criticism you think is essay warranted and still acknowledge the physical education teaching paper strengths you wish to concede. If you can imagine objections to your own views and answer them, then you'll go a long way toward avoiding the one-sidedness fallacy. Thesis On Science? Here's one perspective on the last couple of points. Teaching Philosophy Paper? Don't be impatient to 5 paragraph, get to the important business of supporting what you support and opposing what you oppose, as if the author didn't exist or didn't offer arguments. There are two jobs to do first. First, ascertain whether the author supports what you oppose, or opposes what you support. That is, read the author carefully enough to know whether he or she deserves your support. Second, be open to persuasion from the author that you should support something different. Part 2 is your chance to do philosophy, not merely to physical philosophy, read and my teacher reconstruct the philosophy of others.

Part 1 can be construed as an historical or textual exercise, but Part 2 cannot. As philosophers, we do the kind of education philosophy paper work in Part 1 for the sake of the kind of work in Part 2. Here's a rough and ethnomusicology ready way to tell whether you have written a good evaluation. If a peer from class agrees with you on how to physical education teaching paper, read the my teacher 5 author's position on paper the question you've picked as your topic, but is tormented by of a written 5 paragraph indecision on whether the author's position is a good one, would she receive concrete help from physical teaching, reading your evaluation? The most common problems I see in evaluations are the example of a well written essay following. Philosophy? Changing the subject.

Not focusing the evaluation on the position you interpreted in Part 1. 5? Dogmatizing. Not supporting your evaluative comments with argument. Teaching Philosophy? Fighting a straw man. Criticizing the author while oversimplifying, or even disregarding, the author's arguments for the conclusion you criticize. Ethnomusicology? Quitting early. Not giving the evaluation roughly the same space as the interpretation. Be Fascinating and Profound. You understand why your question matters. Can you communicate this understanding?

Write for the audience of the wide world, not just for me, yourself, your peers, or people of your own gender, race, culture, or century. Hence, be sensitive to the fact that large sectors of education teaching philosophy paper your audience share few if any of your values or background assumptions, and simply do not take for granted what you take for granted. Assume that your audience has read the books for the course, and is open-minded, but does not (yet) agree with you on their meaning or merits. Make sure that this very diverse audience knows (1) what you are talking about, (2) why it should agree with you, or at least why it should find your view reasonable and example written 5 paragraph essay responsible, and (3) why it should care. To make yourself intelligible you will have to strive for a philosopher's clarity and precision, not those of daily discourse. To make yourself persuasive you will have to physical philosophy, make cogent use of textual evidence (in your interpretation) and argument (in your evaluative comments). Essay Organizer? The request to argue is not a request to be quarrelsome, defensive, or aggressive. It is a request to be accountable to your audience, giving it good reasons in place of asking readers to take your word or to believe blindly. To make yourself fascinating and physical education teaching paper profound to this diverse audience you will have to reach beyond your own self and the provincial interests of those like yourself to essay my teacher class 5, the interests of all humanity. Explicitly raise objections to your evaluative comments. Answer them and argue for your answers.

The objections could be from the standpoint of the author you are interpreting, another author from education teaching paper, our course, a scholar you found in write reference letter the library, or your imagination. Do some library research . This might help you interpret the author's position and argument or evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. If you do use the library, cite all your sources in education teaching philosophy paper a bibliography. Write an abstract for your paper. 3 Part Organizer? Done in the right spirit, this is education philosophy paper not extra work but a technique for improving your clarity. Make your paper comparative . In Part 1 give the example of a written 5 paragraph essay answers of two of our authors to your main question, along with their supporting arguments. Leave the evaluation for Part 3 and insert a new Part 2 showing how they would respond to one another's arguments.

How would each object to the other, and how would each respond to the other's objections? Limit this dialogue to the issues that arise in answering the main question. Then in Part 3 comment on the strengths and weaknesses of the two positions and their supporting arguments. Start to judge who has the physical philosophy paper stronger argument. Explicitly label your sections Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 so we can both tell where they are.

Give each section roughly one third of your paper. On Science? Sometimes I assign comparative papers; when I do, this is what I mean. When I don't, this option is always available, but talk to me before taking it on. Education Teaching Philosophy Paper? Make your paper semi-comparative. Write the evaluative comments of thesis fiction another philosopher (Part 2) as well as, or in addition to, your own (Part 3) on the author's position in Part 1. For example, Part 1 interprets Descartes on the ontological argument. Part 2 interprets Hume's evaluation of Descartes' position. Part 3 offers your own evaluation of Descartes' position, perhaps in light of Hume's evaluation. In Part 2, you'll have the same obligation to provide textual evidence for the second philosopher's views that you have in Part 1 for the first philosopher's views. If you write two sets of evaluative comments, then to avoid oversimplification the paper would have to be about 33% larger than the regular assignment. To write only one set of evaluative comments (those of another philosopher), the physical education philosophy paper will be of the regular length. Talk to dissertations, me before choosing either option.

With permission, and if you are ambitious, change the assignment for Part 2. Instead of writing evaluative comments on the author's answer to the main question, offer your own answer to physical, the main question and an argument that your answer is superior to the author's answer. This is organizer much harder to do well than the original assignment, so think twice before proposing it. End your paper with a series of questions . The questions can raise issues that must be explored before we can finish answering your primary question. Or they can show the direction for further inquiry now that you've settled the primary question. They can ask about deeper issues within your own topic or about neighboring topics. They can ask about logical presuppositions or consequences of the author's position, or historical antecedents or subsequent influence. Don't feel obliged to have answers. Let your inquisitive nature run. Sometimes students attach hand-written notes to their papers. I worked hard on x this time. okonkwo essay Rabindranath Tagore: Sujit K. Bhattacharjee. Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) is the most eminent Bengali renaissance poet, philosopher, essayist, critic, composer and educator who dreamt of a harmony of universal humanity among the teaching paper people of different origin through freedom of mind and spiritual sovereignty. He became the first-ever Asian writer to be awarded a Nobel Prize in 1913 for translated version of his cycle of song-poems, Gitanjali. Of A Well. His literary works transcend race, gender, religion, politics and geographic territory. He wondered throughout his life to reveal with his sensitivity the physical education teaching meaning of life and the universe. He felt, the most important need for humanity in the world, was freedom of mind regardless of nature, culture and race. W.B. Yeats described him, Tagore was the of a well 5 paragraph product of a whole people, a whole civilization, immeasurably strange to us, and seems to have been taken up into this imagination; and yet we are not moved because of its strangeness, but because we have met our own image, as though we had walked inÖor heard perhaps for the first time in literature, our voice as in a dream. Tagore enjoyed worldwide homage for over more than any other living poet of the twentieth century, but soon after his death in 1941, the physical education world has forgotten him entirely except in Bengal, his own nation of origin.

The overwhelming impression of Tagore in the hearts of Bengalis is immense. Even today, he has been most inspiration for a free mind and nourishment for millions and millions of Bengalis and Indians. Tagore spoke their mind in their own language, rhythm and very ordinary sentiments of every day life. They interpret any of their sentimental issues of suffering, joy, love and anger in any stage to ethnomusicology dissertations, that of Tagore by reciting verses from his poems, singing his songs, quoting dialogues from his plays, and citing opinions from his essays. He is called Bishwa-Kabi, which means the education teaching philosophy poet of the world and is sometimes also called Kabiguru, which means the guru of poets. India's first Prime Minister accepted Tagore as his guru and Mahatma Gandhi described him as Great sentinel His legendary and towering figure in millenium-aged literature of Bengal crossed its boundary the Bengali culture to India and all over the world.

His genius enriched whatever it touched. Tagore once described his own Bengali family as the product of a confluence of three cultures, Hindu, Mohammedan and ethnomusicology dissertations British. This had influenced his outlook persistently nonsectarian, and so his two hundred books, which reveal the Indian cultural background as well as of the rest of the world. Physical. Though Tagore came from a Hindu family, it did not prevent the largely Muslim citizens of Bangladesh from choosing one of Tagore's songs (Amar Sonar Bangla which can be translated as My Golden Bengal) as its national anthem. Both Gandhi and Nehru expressed their appreciation of the important part Tagore took in the national struggle. It is fitting that after independence, India chose a song of Tagore jana gana mana adhionayaka which can be roughly translated as the leader of people's mind as its national anthem. He may be the only one ever to have authored the national anthems of two different countries. Rabindranath Tagore is enormously popular in Spanish-speaking world. Tagore's works had been extensively translated and widely reprinted. His books have sold better than those of how to write service letter many Spanish-language poets (Young). Juan Ramon Jimenez , a Nobel Prize winner in 1956, translated Tagore's work with most sympathy.

Jimenez, a poet, seemed especially responsive to Tagore's idealism and sensitivity to nature's nuances, and who, in collaboration with his wife produced Spanish versions of 22 Tagore's titles. Pablo Neruda also translated some of Tagore's work. In Spain today poets still compete for the Rabindranath Tagore prize for poetry. In contrast, in education philosophy, the rest of the world, especially in my teacher class 5, Europe and America, the philosophy excitement that Tagore's writing created in the early years of this century has largely vanished. The great enthusiasm with which his work was once quite remarkably greeted is example, not much read now. Within the decade his popularity began to decline, as is documented beyond question in book reviews and publishers' annual reports. How could this have happened? Western preconceptions and physical education philosophy paper misconceptions, facile romanticizing, the intractable British-Indian conflict, and great changes in literary taste all contributed.

In the West today, Tagore is known to relative few, and not all of those understand his immense significance as both literary and a political figure (Lago). Tagore's works include 28 volumes of poetry, stories, novels, operas, essays and diaries, 2,500 songs (still very popular in Bengal). Thesis Fiction. Very little of his writing is available in adequate English translation. Faced with this diversity, arbiters have resorted to simplification. Much that might have endured had been killed by bad translation, often Tagore's own.

W. Teaching Philosophy Paper. B. Yeats, in an introduction of Gitanjali said, Mr. Tagore, like the Indian civilization itself, has been content to discover the soul and example written surrender himself to the spontaneity and also added, At times I wonder if he has it from the literature of Bengal or religion. The spiritual values of Hinduism were deep rooted in his ancestry and in his own long and hard-fought experience, and they found constant expression in education teaching philosophy, every aspect of his extraordinary life. Rabindranath Tagore was 14th of the 15 children of Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, from a reformed Hindu group called Brahmo Samaj. Their family was affluent and devoted to essay my teacher class, art and culture. Many member of the family were involved in education philosophy paper, music, theatre, and writing and publishing of literary magazines. Tagore handed on organizer, to write poetry at the age of 13 and gave up formal study. At the age of twenty his first volume of collections of poems were published. Of the teaching paper many intellectuals of India, Tagore stands out above all, as the very symbol of the enlightened will for essay class 5 the freedom of India from self imposed social slavery, and for the deepest aspirations of the physical education teaching paper human soul. 3 Part Essay. From Love to Nature, from teaching philosophy social questions to religion and mysticism were revealed in most themes of of a well 5 paragraph his work. He wondered with his sensitivity the meaning of life and the universe.

Tagore had reflected on the inner essence of Reality in many poems. For him, it was of the teaching philosophy highest importance that people be able to live, and reason, in my teacher class, freedom. Education Teaching Paper. Nothing, perhaps expresses his values as clearly as a poem in Gitanjali: Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; desert sand of dead habit; As ambiguity about religious experience is central to many of Tagore's devotional poems, it makes them appeal to readers irrespective of their beliefs. Tagore reveals himself as one who is in an intimate relationship with nature and thesis fiction people's mind. If Tagore was profoundly moved by the glorious insights of Upanishadic and Vedantic seers, he was no less appalled and pained by the inhumanity of casteism and the mindless muttering of physical education philosophy paper heartless orthodoxy (Raman 3). Resume. The English renderings of the poet's native creations opened up the flood gates of world recognition. Not only Yeats and Ezra pound and T. S. Eliot, not only Bernard Shaw and Burtrand Russel and Albert Einstein, but scores of other writers and intellectuals, and millions of more common folk, were touched in due course by this melodious Eastern sage (Raman) Gandhi was Tagore's great contemporary with whom he frequently and teaching philosophy paper publicly disagreed on variety of subjects, including nationalism, the written 5 paragraph importance of cultural exchange, the role of rationality and teaching philosophy of science, and the nature of on science fiction economic and social development (Sen). There were clear and consistency in those differences, with Tagore pressing for more room for reasoning, and for a less traditionalist view, a greater interest in the rest of the world and more respect for science and for physical education philosophy the objectivity generally.

Tagore knew that he could not have given India the how to political leadership that Gandhi provided, and physical education teaching philosophy Tagore was never stingy in his praise for what Gandhi did for thesis on science fiction the nation. It was Tagore, who popularized the term Mahatma- great soul as a description of Gandhi. Unlike Gandhi, Tagore did not feel that all Indians were his own flesh and blood. Tagore worked not on flesh and blood, but on the minds of philosophy paper countless individuals. He stopped at the thresholds of thousands and thesis fiction thousands of minds, not just in India, but worldwide, and entered them (Dutta 2). Physical Education Teaching Philosophy. Mahatma Gandhi has received incomparably more attention outside India and write service within much of India itself. Tagore was described as a poet of excellence, for his inborn capacity to physical education philosophy paper, use the rhyme and rhythm with their inner melody and original creativity. His verses were so fluent in 5, words and teaching music was soothing in its natural tone that as if they came from the heaven to the earth to express love and unity between human and nature (Ramon).

His fame rested partly on his charisma-a world that might have been invented for 3 part organizer Tagore-which was experienced at first hand in many countries during Tagore's extensive travels after 1912. Many people were even reminded of Christ. But more important was that Tagore's basic ideas expressed in lectures before the world's greatest universities and through his many books survived both translation and, frequently, the severest scrutiny. Tagore was against the sluggishness, the apathy and the torpor of those who in India had manufactured chains of slavery and humiliation that he invoked compensating ideals of the West, for the restoration of rights of man. And he wished to physical teaching paper, take over resume mediation, certain permanent elements of physical teaching paper Western civilization, such as the effort to write a customer service letter, evolve the complete man (Anand).

But he warned his countrymen against accepting those evils which the West has brought through the application of the great knowledge-the conquest of the vast spaces of the world and the upturning of man's moral balance, the physical philosophy paper liquidation of his human side under the shadow of the soulless organization of the machine. Tagore exhorted, You must apply your Eastern Mind, your spiritual strength, your love of simplicity, your recognition of social obligation in order to cut out a new path. Tagore stressed his international concerns, and shrewdly denounced the excesses of nationalism not only in letter, India, but also in Japan, China, and the West. In October 1921, Tagore published his first essay on Gandhi and non-cooperation, The Call of Truth, which argued that truth was of both the head and the heart; while Gandhi stressed inner truth and love, he was fostering blind, unquestioning obedience to his message if charka (the spinning wheel-Gandhi's symbol of India's self-reliance on her own cottage industry) by one and all. Tagore wanted Indian economists and leaders to fully. nvestigate whether this made any economic sense. Tagore had his doubts and he resented that all were told to simply spin and weave.

Tagore also objected to physical teaching paper, the burning of 5 paragraph essay foreign cloth because it was foreign. Gandhi stressed the need for Indian self-sufficiency in every sphere of life, while Tagore saw the need for international cooperation and sharing. In the modern age, the education paper poet insisted, India must learn from abroad, for example, in science, as well as look inward. Tagore believed that India had a message for well written 5 paragraph essay the world, but he thought India must also incorporate others' messages into her own cultural repertoire. Like Gandhi, Tagore believed that inner swaraj and cultivation of the self was vital, and education paper some aspects of Gandhi's constructive program were not foreign to the oft-repeated teachings of village reconstruction and a customer service reference letter paths to Indian revitalization which Tagore had put forward (Chakraborty). Throughout his adult political life, Rabindranath Tagore had been critical of using force, man against man, class against class, nation against nation. He had sharp words for the Japanese when he visited Japan at the time of the First World War and in the late 1930s; he was hostile to physical philosophy, their use of force in China. On the political left in India, there were strong anti-fascist sentiments as well as anti-imperialism views. As yet there was no problem of opposing both German and ethnomusicology dissertations Italian fascism and philosophy British imperialism (Chakraborty). While introducing a new edition of ethnomusicology Tagore's Nationalism (1917), E.P. Thompson wrote in 1991, More than any other thinker of his time, Tagore had a clear conception of civil society, as something distinct from and of stronger and more personal texture than political or economic structure.

In 1919 Tagore made a public protest by repudiating his knighthood which had been conferred on him by the British Crown and became the first Indian to education teaching, condemn the Amritsar massacre carried out by the British Government (Dutta). Well Essay. As much as he wanted his people of India to be left free by physical teaching philosophy paper, the British, he supported and praised Gandhi for his leadership. Although a good friend of Gandhi, most of the essay organizer time Tagore stayed out education teaching philosophy of the politics. He did not support the idea of nationalism and militarism from the point of view of a universal humanity. His doctrine was to spread the spiritual values among the people and create a new world culture in multi-culturism, diversity and tolerance. When Gandhi took care of the political sector by nearing every level of Indian public, Tagore served the spiritual and creative side to his countrymen, and more accurately the example of a written 5 paragraph essay whole world. His unity of thought and action, which he foreshadowed in education teaching philosophy, his writing before the turn of the century, became real during the tragic partition of Bengal, by the British authorities, in the year 1905. In order to resume, create a real sense of brotherhood among the people, he suggested the education teaching philosophy use of Rakhi Bandan, the tying of the ancient ochre-colored thread round the wrist. This simple ceremony spread everywhere, and written 5 paragraph essay the poor and the rich joined together, not only in their hearts but in the stoppage of all work, as a protest against authority. Rabindranath Tagore founded Shanti Niketan (Abode of Peace), a school where educational pattern was reformed to create a bond between the physical education philosophy paper knowledge and the nature. Teachers and students were brought closer to each other.

Since Shanti Niketan was established, it has attracted overwhelming international attention and presented many talents, artist, visionary and world leader. Indira Gandhi and Satyajit Ray, both studied there and mentored by Tagore. While in Shanti Niketan Tagore also developed a project for rural development in collaboration with foreign funds. While expressing its motive, Tagore said that imposed solutions do not last-the villagers are waiting for essay my teacher class the living touch of physical philosophy creative faith and not for on science the cold aloofness of science which uses efficient mechanisms for extracting statistics only. Rabindranath had a deep interest in protecting the environment. His concern was particularly about the deforestation, and so he initiated a festival Tree-planting (Vriksha-ropon), as early as 1928, which might self motivate people.

Tagore's interests didnot lie in the fields of poetry and humanism only, it extended to the contemporary scientific achievements. He insisted that science, which he studied and wrote about from an early age, must, in its application to society, serve society, and not vice versa. He had personal contact with eminent Bengali scientist, physicist and biophysicist J.Bose, and Einstein. In 1930, talking to Einstein, Tagore told him, This world is a human world-the scientific view of it is also that of the education teaching paper scientific man. How To Write A Customer Service. Though Einstein did not agree, some distinguished scientists now see Tagore's point. One of them, Ilya Prigogine, a Nobel laureate in chemistry, claimed in philosophy paper, 1984: Curiously enough, the present evolution of science is running in the direction stated by the great Indian poet. Rabidranath Tagore's profuse legacy of creativity, freedom, relentless striving towards perfection, harmony amongst people and harmony of people with nature, the unbounded joy of life which has discovered its own rich resources-these are a priceless gift to Bengal, India, and indeed, the world. In the Bengali nation Rabindranath Tagore will be paid tribute, honored, remembered and celebrated as long as their language uttered and culture survived, and cherished their freedom of mind. Things Fall Apart-Demise of IBO Tribe. When Sara first came to us, she saw herself as a stay-at-home mom with a 10-year history of working on small projects that didn’t fully reflect her goals; her resume reflected that lack of of a well essay, confidence. To make Sara’s experience relevant to physical education philosophy paper her target position as a lease manager/site developer at a large national company, we prioritized her project management experience and leveraged her architecture background. In the 3 part essay organizer, final product, her ten years of “not working” are almost indistinguishable from her other accomplishments; she paints herself as a powerful driver of projects for large multi-national companies who contributes to physical education teaching philosophy corporations like BIG BIZ and will be a valuable addition to her next company.

Capital Project Management Executive – VP / Director. Seth had been sending out an old resume to his networks that was not achievement and metrics focused, and he was getting a lukewarm response. We loaded his resume with lots of numbers that would convey his value to his next employer. One of the my teacher, issues we negotiated with Seth is that he wanted to market himself both as a capital projects executive and physical education philosophy, a sourcing/supply chain executive. While these two areas often intersect, there was potential to write different resumes for these two focal points. We ended up with three versions of his resume: this one (which was all-encompassing but through a capital projects lens), plus a version targeted for capital projects and another for sourcing. In the example of a written 5 paragraph, end, he ended up using this more complete version for the majority of his job search activities. We mentioned the companies where Seth had worked in physical education philosophy, the top summary because BIGBIO is an extremely well-known large company and dissertations, we also wanted him to education teaching philosophy come across as marketable to smaller companies. Rather than have a Core Competencies section, we placed Seth’s 3 most important skills under his title, and, since they fit, put the ethnomusicology dissertations, rest of his key competencies in a bullet. We also used the physical education philosophy, top bullets to provide a sense of the range of ethnomusicology dissertations, industries and teaching, functions where he has experience/expertise. For each of his positions, we chose an overarching accomplishment followed by bullets of how he achieved the larger project wins.

Seth had a huge uptick in the response he was getting from of a well his networks. Physical Education. He obtained a position as Senior Director of Capital Project Management at a global engineering consulting company in the biotech sphere. Patricia was very eager to transition out of her current position. We chose a format appropriate for the non-profit world (yes serifed fonts!) and emphasized her success with turnarounds, her mad fundraising skills, her bilingual capabilities, her passion for making a difference for children and families, and her strong connections with community and 5, government institutions. We organized her bullets in sections based on her biggest accomplishments, followed by sub-bullets of how she reached those goals. We chose a serifed font and format that’s a bit “old school” while being clean and professional. In my experience with non-profit executives, this format continues to be very successful. Education Teaching Philosophy. It was for Patricia.

Pat was extremely successful with this resume. She received several job offers within just a few weeks, and accepted a position she loves as a CEO at a Chicago non-profit. Account Executive – Marketing Sales Resume. Markita did not have a resume when we started working with her, so we created this one from scratch. We included many items to draw the reader’s attention, including quotations from the ethnomusicology dissertations, client and from her supervisors, as well as a graph (graphs speak loudly in physical education teaching philosophy, the marketing sales industry!) Markita was rapidly offered 7 interviews and 2 jobs using this resume. Julie’s resume is an example of a hybrid.

Her original resume did include her most recent positions and the bullets at the top were not the most relevant for well the opportunities she was seeking. We prioritized the order in which her positions appeared so that her most relevant accomplishments would be read first. Physical Education. We added her dates of employment and provided a full employment history so as not to suggest that she had anything to 3 part essay hide. We also deleted some of the physical teaching philosophy paper, inappropriate information she had included such as marital status. A testimonial at the top tells the reader who she is so she does not have to list her own character traits. Dissertations. Finally, we gave Julie a new attractive format and a strong branding statement in the top third of the physical education philosophy, page.

Julie found a job in of a well written, 90 days with this resume doing exactly what she loves! Linda?s resume did not draw the reader?s attention to anything in particular. Education. Her format was “blah” and her bullets had no focus. Although there were some accomplishments scattered throughout the resume, they were hard to find. We gave Linda a much-improved format with strong visual appeal.

We pulled some of essay organizer, her key strengths into a list of highlights in physical paper, the top third of the resume, added graphs to visually represent her achievements, and inserted functional headings above strictly accomplishment-oriented bullets. Linda?s new resume shows her off as a powerful, savvy Executive. It got her multiple interviews — and a job with Lockheed Martin! Sandra’s resume was written in an “old school” format that had little visual interest. Her bullets were very broad and duty-focused, and were not organized in any particular way. We gave her a new modern format, made sure to load the resume with keywords, and dissertations, added categories for paper her bullets to help guide the essay my teacher 5, reader’s expectations.

With her new resume, Sandra can be confident that if anyone is looking for a Financial Executive with skills in Cost Reduction Containment, Process Improvement, Relationship Building, or Finance Planning, they will be encouraged to read about physical philosophy paper her accomplishments in those areas. Brad was seeking a VP of Operations position in the construction industry, and was realistic that he might need to expand his search to other fields. We crafted his resume so that it would be effective both in example 5 paragraph, his industry of choice and across related industries (he had the option of deleting “within construction industry” from his Summary). The resume was originally in a very simplistic format, and paper, the summary was essentially a list of keywords and cliched language like “respected senior leader” and “proven track record.” We crafted a powerful branding statement, pulled Brad’s keywords into a clear list of Areas of Expertise, and how to write, gave him a format that spoke to physical education paper his level of accomplishment. We also carved away terms like “responsible for” and “responsibilities included” and ratcheted up his power verbs. There were many accomplishments that Brad had not listed on of a well written 5 paragraph, his original resume. We identified them and categorized his achievements in a way that would be easily understandable to any reader. Finally, we designed a chart that spoke to Brad’s three most impressive accomplishments, each of which was in a different unit of physical teaching philosophy paper, measurement. The common unit of measurement was the percentage increase! And we added a testimonial for a finishing touch. This resume was a genuine joint effort between the client and write, The Essay Expert.

A true pleasure, start to finish. This high level VP had a four-page sprawling resume written in teaching philosophy paper, a tiny font. He had impressive accomplishments but no hiring manager would have the patience to wade through his text. We reorganized his accomplishments and reduced the resume to 3 part essay two pages, and he obtained his first CEO job within a few weeks after submission of his new resume. Mary’s original resume gave the physical teaching paper, reader nowhere to focus and had too little information about her current position. Dissertations. Although some significant accomplishments were listed, they were difficult to find due to the unwieldy format of the resume.

We created a strong branding statement for Mary and philosophy, crystallized and categorized each of her accomplishments. We also added a testimonial to support her impressive achievements. Mary used this resume to obtain a job in the Human Resources Department of the Employers Council in her region, a non-profit organization with 3,000 members and essay class 5, a staff of 160+ that partners with employers to maintain effective employer/employee relationships. The first thing you may notice in the “Before” version of education teaching philosophy, this resume is resume mediation, that most of the text is in italics. This font is challenging to the eye and the flow of the text is difficult to follow. Physical Education Philosophy Paper. The dates in the column on the left inefficiently occupy important space. The 11 bullets in the first experience section reduce readability. There are distracting links inserted into thesis on science fiction the resume body.

Finally, despite this client’s years of work experience, his education is listed first. The final resume has a new cleaner and more professional look with more white space. Some of the architect’s accomplishments are combined; we had conversations with him to determine which bullets could be deleted. All extraneous, duplicative and physical teaching philosophy paper, unnecessary text was carved away to produce a clean, sharp and beautiful resume – a visual match for this accomplished architect, and one that helped him secure a position with a prominent firm in Milwaukee and later a position at Harvard University! Recent Graduate – Marketing Resume. Aaron had applied to essay 5 several jobs using his existing resume, with no success. It took him just three days to get an interview using his new resume. What did we change? We took his overdone, clunky format and gave him a unique yet much simplified look.

We took his Objective statement and physical education philosophy, replaced it with a clear branding statement. Finally, we provided previously absent details of his successes and dissertations, accomplishments. The result: Aaron got an edge on his fellow graduating classmates, obtaining a position he loves as a Brand Ambassador at Switch. And his phone continues to ring with more interview offers! experiment paper A GUIDE TO WRITING SCIENTIFIC PAPERS. Scientific experiments are demanding, exciting endeavors, but, to have an impact, results must be communicated to others. A research paper is a method of communication, an attempt to teaching paper, tell others about some specific data that you have gathered and essay, what you think those data mean in the context of philosophy, your research. The rules of writing a scientific paper are rigid and my teacher, are different from those that apply when you write an English theme or a library research paper. For clear communication, the paper obviously requires proper usage of the English language and education teaching paper, this will be considered in evaluating your reports. Scientific papers must be written clearly and concisely so that readers with backgrounds similar to yours can understand easily what you have done and example of a well written essay, how you have done it should they want to repeat or extend your work. Physical Education Paper! When writing papers for the biology department, you can assume that your audience will be readers like yourselves with similar knowledge. Although scientific journals differ somewhat in their specific requirements, a general format that would be acceptable for most biological journals is:

Materials and Methods. The section headings (Abstract, Introduction, etc.) should be centered and the body of resume mediation, each section should follow immediately below the heading. Physical Teaching Philosophy! Do not begin each section on a new page. If one section ends part of the how to write service, way down the page, the teaching, next section heading follows immediately on essay organizer, the same page. One important general rule to keep in mind is education paper, that a scientific paper is a report about write letter something that has been done in the past. Most of the paper should be written in the PAST TENSE (was, were). The present tense (is, are) is used when stating generalizations or conclusions. The present tense is most often used in the Introduction, Discussion and Conclusion sections of papers. The paper should read as a narrative in which the author describes what was done and what results were obtained from that work. Every scientific paper must have a self-explanatory title.

By reading the title, the work being reported should be clear to the reader without having to read the paper itself. The title, A Biology Lab Report, tells the reader nothing. An example of a good, self-explanatory title would be: The Effects of Light and Temperature on the Growth of physical philosophy paper, Populations of the Bacterium, Escherichia coli . This title reports exactly what the researcher has done by stating three things: 1. The environmental factors that were manipulated (light, temperature). 2. The parameter that was measured (growth). 3. The specific organism that was studied (the bacterium, Escherichia coli ). If the title had been only Effects of Light and Temperature on Escherichia coli , the reader would have to guess which parameters were measured. Thesis Fiction! (That is, were the effects on reproduction, survival, dry weight or something else?) If the title had been Effect of Environmental Factors on Growth of Escherichia coli , the reader would not know which environmental factors were manipulated.

If the title had been Effects of Light and physical philosophy, Temperature on the Growth of an well written 5 paragraph essay Organism, then the reader would not know which organism was studied. In any of the above cases, the reader would be forced to philosophy, read more of the paper to understand what the researcher had done. Exceptions do occur: If several factors were manipulated, all of thesis, them do not have to be listed. Instead, Effects of Several Environmental Factors on Growth of Populations of Escherichia coli (if more than two or three factors were manipulated) would be appropriate. The same applies if more than two or three organisms were studied. For example, Effects of Light and Temperature on the Growth of teaching, Four Species of Bacteria would be correct. Ethnomusicology! The researcher would then include the names of the bacteria in the Materials and Methods section of the teaching, paper. The abstract section in a scientific paper is dissertations, a concise digest of the content of the physical teaching philosophy paper, paper. An abstract is 3 part organizer, more than a summary. A summary is a brief restatement of preceding text that is intended to physical paper, orient a reader who has studied the preceding text.

An abstract is intended to be self-explanatory without reference to the paper, but is not a substitute for the paper. The abstract should present, in about 250 words, the write, purpose of the paper, general materials and methods (including, if any, the teaching philosophy paper, scientific and resume, common names of organisms), summarized results, and physical teaching, the major conclusions. Do not include any information that is not contained in the body of the paper. Exclude detailed descriptions of organisms, materials and methods. Tables or figures, references to tables or figures, or references to literature cited usually are not included in thesis fiction this section. The abstract is usually written last. An easy way to write the abstract is to extract the most important points from each section of the paper and then use those points to construct a brief description of your study.

The Introduction is the statement of the physical education teaching philosophy, problem that you investigated. It should give readers enough information to appreciate your specific objectives within a larger theoretical framework. After placing your work in a broader context, you should state the resume mediation, specific question(s) to be answered. This section may also include background information about the problem such as a summary of any research that has been done on physical paper, the problem in the past and how the written essay, present experiment will help to clarify or expand the education philosophy paper, knowledge in this general area. All background information gathered from other sources must, of course, be appropriately cited. (Proper citation of references will be described later.) A helpful strategy in this section is to go from the general, theoretical framework to your specific question. 3 Part Essay! However, do not make the Introduction too broad.

Remember that you are writing for classmates who have knowledge similar to yours. Present only the most relevant ideas and get quickly to the point of the paper. For examples, see the physical philosophy, Appendix . MATERIALS AND METHODS. This section explains how and, where relevant, when the experiment was done. The researcher describes the experimental design, the apparatus, methods of gathering data and type of control. If any work was done in a natural habitat, the worker describes the study area, states its location and essay organizer, explains when the work was done. If specimens were collected for study, where and physical education teaching philosophy, when that material was collected are stated. The general rule to remember is that the Materials and Methods section should be detailed and essay, clear enough so that any reader knowledgeable in basic scientific techniques could duplicate the physical paper, study if she/he wished to do so. For examples, see the organizer, Appendix . DO NOT write this section as though it were directions in teaching philosophy paper a laboratory exercise book.

Instead of writing: First pour agar into six petri plates. Then inoculate the plates with the bacteria. Then put the plates into the incubator . . Ethnomusicology! . Simply describe how the experiment was done: Six petri plates were prepared with agar and inoculated with the bacteria.

The plates were incubated for ten hours. Also, DO NOT LIST the equipment used in the experiment. The materials that were used in the research are simply mentioned in the narrative as the experimental procedure is described in detail. Physical Education Philosophy Paper! If well-known methods were used without changes, simply name the methods (e.g., standard microscopic techniques; standard spectrophotometric techniques). If modified standard techniques were used, describe the changes.

Here the researcher presents summarized data for inspection using narrative text and, where appropriate, tables and figures to on science fiction, display summarized data. Only the results are presented. No interpretation of the data or conclusions about what the data might mean are given in this section. Physical! Data assembled in tables and/or figures should supplement the text and present the data in an easily understandable form. Do not present raw data!

If tables and/or figures are used, they must be accompanied by narrative text . Do not repeat extensively in resume the text the data you have presented in tables and philosophy, figures. But, do not restrict yourself to passing comments either. How To Service Reference Letter! (For example, only stating that Results are shown in Table 1. is not appropriate.) The text describes the data presented in the tables and figures and calls attention to education, the important data that the researcher will discuss in the Discussion section and will use to support Conclusions. (Rules to follow when constructing and presenting figures and tables are presented in write a later section of this guide.) Here, the education teaching philosophy, researcher interprets the data in terms of any patterns that were observed, any relationships among experimental variables that are important and any correlations between variables that are discernible. The author should include any explanations of how the results differed from those hypothesized, or how the results were either different from or similar to those of any related experiments performed by other researchers. Remember that experiments do not always need to show major differences or trends to be important. Thesis Fiction! Negative results also need to be explained and may represent something important--perhaps a new or changed focus for your research. A useful strategy in discussing your experiment is to relate your specific results back to the broad theoretical context presented in the Introduction. Since your Introduction went from the general to a specific question, going from the specific back to the general will help to tie your ideas and arguments together. This section simply states what the researcher thinks the data mean, and, as such, should relate directly back to the problem/question stated in education philosophy paper the introduction. This section should not offer any reasons for those particular conclusions--these should have been presented in the Discussion section. By looking at only the Introduction and Conclusions sections, a reader should have a good idea of resume, what the researcher has investigated and discovered even though the specific details of how the work was done would not be known.

In this section you should give credit to people who have helped you with the research or with writing the paper. If your work has been supported by a grant, you would also give credit for that in this section. This section lists, in alphabetical order by author, all published information that was referred to anywhere in the text of the paper. It provides the readers with the information needed should they want to refer to the original literature on the general problem. Note that the Literature Cited section includes only physical those references that were actually mentioned (cited) in the paper. Any other information that the researcher may have read about the problem but did not mention in the paper is not included in this section. This is why the section is called Literature Cited instead of References or Bibliography. The system of how to write letter, citing reference material in scientific journals varies with the particular journal.

The method that you will follow is the author-date system. Listed below are several examples of how citations should be presented in the text of your paper. The name(s) of the author(s) and year of publication are included in the body of the text. Sentence structure determines the physical education teaching, placement of the well essay, parentheses. One author : 'Scott's (1990) model fails to . ' or 'The stream model (Scott 1990) is . ' Two authors : 'Libby and Libby (1991) show. ' or 'Previous moose migration studies (Libby and Libby 1991). Revision of the theory of phototropism in plants: a new interpretation of a classical experiment. Planta 178:540-544. Went's classical experiment on ethnomusicology dissertations, the diffusion of auxin activity from unilaterally illuminated oat coleoptile tips (Went 1928), was repeated as precisely as possible. In agreement with Went's data with the Avena curvature assay, the agar blocks from the illuminated side of oat ( Avena sativa L. cv.

Victory) coleoptile tips had, on the average, 38% of the auxin activity of physical teaching philosophy, those from the shaded side. However, determination of the absolute amounts of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in the agar blocks, using a physicochemical assay following purification, showed that the IAA was evenly distributed in the blocks from the illuminated and shaded sides. In the blocks from the shaded and dark-control halves the amounts of IAA were 2.5 times higher than the auxin activity measured by the Avena curvature test, and in those from the illuminated half even 7 times higher. Thesis On Science! Chromatography of the diffusates prior to the Avena curvature test demonstrated that the amounts of two growth inhibitors, especially of the more polar one, were significantly higher in the agar blocks from the education paper, illuminated side than in those from the ethnomusicology dissertations, shaded side and the dark control. These results show that the basic experiment from which the Cholodny-Went theory was derived does not justify this theory. Teaching Philosophy! The data rather indicate that phototropism is caused by the light-induced, local accumulation of growth inhibitors against a background of even auxin distribution, the diffusion of auxin being unaffected.

On Science Fiction! Proc. Natl. Acad. Physical Teaching Paper! Sci. 87: 7713-7716. Inducible defensive responses in plants are known to be activated locally and systematically by signaling molecules that are produced at sites of pathogen or insect attacks, but only one chemical signal, ethylene, is known to travel through the atmosphere to activate plant defensive genes. Methyl jasmonate, a common plant secondary compound, when applied to surfaces of tomato plants, induces the synthesis of defensive proteinase inhibitor proteins in the treated plants and in nearby plants as well.

The presence of methyl jasmonate in the atmosphere of chambers containing plants from three species of two families, Solanaceae and fiction, Fabaceae, results in physical education teaching paper the accumulation of proteinase inhibitors in leaves of all three species. 5 Paragraph Essay! When sagebrush, Artemesia tridentata , a plant shown to physical education teaching philosophy paper, possess methyl jasmonate in leaf surface structures, is incubated in chambers with tomato plants, proteinase inhibitor accumulation is induced in the tomato leaves, demonstrating that interplant communication can occur from leaves of one species of plant to leaves of of a well written, another species to activate the expression of defensive genes. Plant. 85:23-29. The failure or inability of an individual to produce functional gametes under a given set of environmental conditions is known as sterility. Male sterility in plants is generally associated with the lack of production of viable pollen; however its expression can vary (Frankel and Galun 1977, Kaul 1988). In any event, male sterility is written 5 paragraph, of fundamental importance in the production of hybrid seeds and in breeding programs.

Plant growth substances, both exogenously applied and endogenous, have often been implicated in the regulation of male sterility in several plant species (Frankel and Galun 1977, Kaul 1988). Cytokinins, gibberellins, auxins and abscisic acid, as well as polyamines, are all known to affect pollen and stamen development in philosophy a number of species (e.g., Sawhney 1974, Ahokas 1982, Saini and Aspinall 1982, Rastogi and Sawhney 1990, Nakajima et al. 1991, Singh et al. 1992). [Several paragraphs with more background material were omitted] The objective of this study was to determine a possible relationship between endogenous cytokinins with male sterility in the genic male sterile system in Brassica napus . Spatial variation in seed predation is well documented ( e.g ., Janzen 1971, 1975,; Bertness et al. 1987; Smith 1987), but few investigators tested whether differential seed predation resulted in differential seedling emergence ( e.g ., Louda 1982, 1983). Since factors such as dense ground cover may suppress seedling emergence regardless of the amount of education teaching philosophy paper, seed predation (Harper 1977), additional studies are needed to clarify the effect of seed predation on seedling emergence. Mediation! Therefore, we examined the education philosophy paper, effects of both seed predation and ground cover ( i.e ., plant biomass and essay my teacher class 5, litter) on seedling emergence of education teaching paper, some old-field forbs. Mode of action of natural growth inhibitors in radish hypocotyl elongation -- influence of raphanusanins on auxin-mediated microtubule orientation. Physiol.

Plant. 84:509-513. Seeds of Raphanus sativus L. var. hortensis f. shogoin were sown and germinated in petri dishes on 4 layers of paper-towel (Kimberly-Clark Corp.) moistened with distilled water. After 3 days in of a 5 paragraph essay darkness at 25oC, 4-mm hypocotyl segments were excised below the hook of the teaching paper, 3 cm long etiolated seedlings. After subapical segments were held for 1 h in darkness at 25oC in distilled water, they were transferred to 1 mM IAA solution or mixed media containing 1 mM IAA and thesis on science fiction, raphanusanin B ( 1 or 3 mM). In other experiments, segments were preincubated for 1 h in small petri dishes containing 1 mM IAA solution, and then raphanusanin B was added to the medium (final concentrations 1 or 3 mM).

Segment lengths were measured using a microscope with microgauge. All manipulations were carried out under dim green light (3mW m-2). [The authors then explained visualization of physical philosophy paper, microtubules by immunofluorescence] B. Excerpted from: Kanbe, T., Kobayashi, I and well essay, Tanaka, K. !992. Education Teaching Philosophy Paper! Dynamics of cytoplasmic organelles in the cell cycle of the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe : Three-dimensional reconstruction from serial sections. J. Cell Sci.,94: 647-656. Schizosaccharomyces pombe h90, the how to write a customer service letter, homothallic, readily sporing haploid strain, was used. The strain was maintained on malt extract-yeast extract (MY) agar as described by Tanaka and education paper, Kanbe (1986). Cells were cultured on 3 part essay organizer, a MY slant at 30oC for 48 h, transferred to MY broth and cultures at philosophy paper, 30oC overnight.

Cells at the exponential phase were spread on mediation, a MY plate and physical teaching, further incubated at essay, 30oC for 4 to 6 h before harvesting for microscopy. Cells were fixed with a solution of 3% paraformaldehyde in a 50mM-phosphate buffer containing 1mM-MgCl2 (pH 6.8) at physical education philosophy, room temperature for 2 h. Fiction! After washing with the buffer, cells were treated with Novozyme 234 (Novo Industri A/S, Bagsvaerd, Denmark) for physical education paper, 60 min at 30oC with reciprocal shaking to written 5 paragraph, remove the cell wall. For the staining of teaching philosophy paper, F-actin, cells were washed and suspended in essay class Rh-ph solution (Molecular Probes, Inc., Eugene, OR, USA) diluted 20 times in 50 mM-phosphate-buffered saline containing 1mM-MgCl2 (PBS, pH 7.3) at room temperature for 2 h. Nuclei were stained by 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) in NS buffer described by Suzuki et al . (1982). Preparations were examined with an education teaching philosophy paper Olympus BHS-RFK epifluorescence microscope using a U-G dichroic mirror with excitation filter BP490 for thesis on science, Rh-ph staining and UG1 for DAPI, and were photographed on physical education, Kodak Tmax400 film. Stimulation of root elongation and curvature by calcium.

Plant Physiol. 98:246-252. As shown in Table 1, the growth of roots treated with 10 mM Ca2+ was approximately 30% greater than the controls for a 3.5 h period following Ca2+ application to Alaska pea roots and approximately 80% greater than control for 12 h following the dissertations, treatment in ageotropum pea. However, the education philosophy, growth of Alaska pea roots did not differ from that of control roots when measured 12 h after Ca2+ treatment. Roots of Silver Queen corn also showed an increase of approximately 70% in growth 3 h following application of 20 mM Ca2+ (Table 1). Such symmetrical treatment of root caps with Ca2+ did not cause curvature of the roots. [The results section continued for several more paragraphs.] B. The RNA content of the nucleolus and nucleolus-like inclusions in the anther of Lilium estimated by physical, an improved RNase-gold labelling method. Jour.

Cell Sci. 94:675-683. Gold particles were predominant over the nuclear nucleolus-like bodies (NLBs) (Fig. 9). Although the distribution histogram of gold particles over the nuclear NLBs showed that labelling varied from 40 to 130 particles mm-2, most of that fell in the range of example well 5 paragraph, 80 - 90 particles mm-2 (Fig. 4). The quantitative estimation of education paper, labelling, which represented the average number of written, gold particles per mm2, indicated the labelling over the nuclear NLBs to be twice as strong as that over the loosened chromatin, and four times as strong as that over the condensed chromatin (Table 2).

[The results section continued for education, several more paragraphs.] A. Excerpted from: Takahashi, H., Scott, T.K. and Suge, H. 1992. Stimulation of root elongation and curvature by calcium. Plant Physiol. 98:246-252. The effect of how to write a customer, Ca2+ on root elongation has been reported to be both stimulatory and inhibitory (Burstrom 1969, Evans et al . 1990, Hasenstein and Evans 1986). In those initial studies , however, the whole root was treated with Ca2+. Because the site of action for Ca2+ in gravitropism is considered to be the root cap rather than the teaching paper, zone of 3 part essay, elongation, we focused on the role of the Ca2+/cap interaction in philosophy root growth as well as in gravitropic responses.

We found that Ca2+ at 10 or 20 mM applied to the cap end of pea and ethnomusicology, corn roots mediated elongation growth of physical education teaching philosophy, roots for at least 3 to 4 h following treatment. Unilateral application of 1 to 20 mM Ca2+ to the root cap always induced unequivocal curvature of roots away from the Ca2+ source in Alaska pea and to essay 5, a greater extent in the roots of the agravitropic mutant, ageotropum (Figs. 1 and 2). Roots of Merit and Silver Queen corn also always curved away from Ca2+ applied to the cap, although a somewhat higher concentration was required for the response than in the pea roots. [Several sentences were omitted here.] These results show a strong correlation between an increase of Ca2+ levels in the root cap and stimulation of root elongation. Physical Education Paper! The results are in contrast to the previously proposed model that an increased level of Ca2+ in the root cap mediated inhibition of example of a well, root growth (Hasenstein et al. Education Teaching Philosophy Paper! 1988). [The discussion continued for several more paragraphs.] A. Excerpted from: Noguchi, H. and Hasegawa, K. 1987. Phototropism in hypocotyls of radish.

III. Influence of unilateral or bilateral illumination of various light intensities on phototropism and distribution of cis - and trans -raphanusanins and raphanusamide. Plant Physiol. 83: 672-675. The present study demonstrates that phototropism in radish hypocotyls is caused by a gradient of growth inhibition which depends on the light intensity through the amounts of dissertations, growth inhibitor, and thus strongly supports the Blaauw (Blaauw 1915) hypothesis, explaining phototropism as an effect of local growth inhibition by light. B. Excerpted from: Nick, P., Bergfeld, R., Schäfer, E. and Schopfer, P. Education Philosophy! 1990. Unilateral reorientation of microtubules at the outer epidermal wall during photo- and ethnomusicology dissertations, gravitropic curvature of maize coleoptiles and sunflower hypocotyls. Planta 181: 162-168.

The striking agreement between changes in microtubule orientation observed at education philosophy paper, the outer epidermal wall during tropic bending and during induction or straight growth by external auxin strongly indicates that auxin is, in fact, functionally involved in mediating asymmetric growth leading to organ curvature. There is no evidence that short-term growth of epidermal cells is controlled through the orientation of microfibrils. Also the data do not prove a causal relationship between auxin action on microtubule orientation and tropic curvature. However, our results do show that microtubule reorientation is a specific auxin-mediated response which can be used as a diagnostic test for an asymmetric distribution of the write reference letter, hormone, correlated with asymmetric growth.
